My biggest blessing in business was an email from a client I loved... threatening to sue me. 

 

This is 2024, the morning after the email (yup I recorded everything, in case I’d need it in court). I read her message through puffy, bloodshot eyes about 70 times, trying to make sense of what had just happened.

She’d worked with me for nine months, with nothing but praise. But as the week went on, her threats escalated. And I felt something I could never have predicted rise in me too.

I stopped feeling blue… and started seeing red. 

The flashbacks flooded in, of every time I’d lowered my price to keep someone comfortable (including for this client). The times when I'd spoken about my work in a heavy or transactional way, and attracted women who didn’t really value it. The times I'd given free mentoring in the DMs to people who’d circle for months and then disappear.

These situations never brought out the best in my medicine or finances… but I was the one who let them keep playing out.

So that week, I made a decision: No more being the ‘friendly, helpful mentor’.
